Towing in windy conditions

Just out of interest really.

Say you had an important competition coming up, but the weather on the day was extremely windy and you could only get the horse there in a trailer. Would the importance of the competition come first - or would the safety of your horse come first? Just how windy would it have to be for you to decide not to travel?
 
I would not tow in bad conditions (v windy or icy) - it's too dangerous. If I felt uneasy at all I wouldn't go - there is always another day to compete. Maybe I'm a wuss tho

Thanks for your replies. In hindsight, I should have worded my question better - as it can be pretty much expected that everyone will put their horses first and not tow in high winds.

But what I am trying really to form an opinion of is how strong would the wind have to actually be to put you off towing (e.g. describe how the trees are moving, litter blowing round etc. etc.)?

I too, admit to being the biggest wuss and not travelling in high winds - but I'm just wondering if I'm actually being too much of a wuss.
 
Depends on the journey. I wouldn't go on the motorway but short journeys prob ok. I err on the safe side though
