Whenever I've travelled my horse I've always (except for one very short journey) taken a buddy in the car/box with me in case of emergency. Next week I have a couple of lessons away from home (about an hour and half away from home and we're staying over night). OH was coming with me, however he now has to work. I could postpone lessons but it could take months to get this particular trainer booked again.

So question is do I go on my own? Ludo is a great traveller and I'm not bothered about being there on my own, it's just the travelling there/back and the "What if's" that concern me. I don't really know of anyone else that could come with me as it's week-days they'd have to take time off work.

Somebody help me make up my mind and tell me this is OK or a terrible idea

I'll need to cancel the lessons/accommodations etc soon if I don't go.

I always drive mine on my own - presumably there will be someone the other end to help you load/unload? What are the 'what if's' you're worried about?

I generally drive the older horses on my own - usually cos I can't be bothered with the inevitable"and how long is this going to take" kind of questions! Never really had a problem except when coming back from vet once and horse was less than steady on her feet as sedation hadn't worn off as much as I thought. Just drive slowly, take your time and try not to get harrassed. If your horse travels fine you shouldn't have any problems.

Not really sure (I am natural born worrier!) but in case he starts banging around or becomes difficult - which he never has even when a horse he was travelling with kept going down in the trailer, Ludo just looked at him like "what you doing down there?"

I was worried before I drove solo but once I did I was fine. Just make sure you have your mobile with you if you're worried about unforeseen happening.
Take the bull by the horns and just do it, once you've done it you'll wonder why you have waited so long!
Good luck!

I go alone, my first solo trip out took me down the M1 to my instructors yard, i pooped myself the whole way!! but not i dont worry at all i go to shows sometimes when my oh cant come, Im sure you will be fine would be a shame to canc your lesson.
