Towing test disaster

If it helps I took 10 tests, yes 10. Then decided driving wasn't for me as I got so worked up and nervous before hand. In one of my tests (probably the last one) I was shaking so much my foot fell off the pedal and stalled. I burst into tears and my examiner went into the shop and brought me a 10p penny mix (I was 24) told me I wasn't going anywhere until I ate them and then I could continue my test.

I shall share some of my disasters to make you feel better!
1- I got a puncture. Offered to change the tyre but apparently that wasn't an option - I don't think its fair to fail me on that!

2- I had been taking lessons in london, went to derby for uni and started lessons there. My instructor was happy after my first lesson for me to put in for a test. I got a cancellation for 2 days time. What he didn't realise was that we don't have country lanes in london. I went down one terrified on my test and failed for going 40 instead of national speed limit

3 - in Derby again I was at a X junction. Lights had gone green for me so I prepared to go. Chav in souped up car speeding appeared from nowhere and jumped his red light. I stopped and got failed for not antcipating him jumping the lights.

4 - on a similiar theme in London a little boy was about to run out in front of me. I emergency stopped as he was in the road and he changed his mind. Apparently that time I failed as 'the other car was too close and you made him stop suddenly' we appealed that on the fact that I'd have killed the boy if we'd both carried on and it was the car behinds fault for being too close.

After that nerves took the better of me and I used to turn into a vomiting wreck.

Annoying as all of those tests ^^ I only picked up the one major and no other minors or faults. I had three different instructors and none could fault my lesson driving. It just all went to pieces on test day.

Get Propranolol from the Dr - Rescue Remedy doesn't stop proper panic attacks. I have a stash from the Drs, I wish I had known about it with my car tests - 5 attempts as you know to pass that due to proper panic attacks (we aren't talking normal nerves here, with my panic attacks I can't even think rationally).

I rarely need them these days, once in a blue moon - but I am keeping some back for my lorry test as I know it will be triggering due to car test experiences.

I say practice over winter, get the drugs and re-do in the Spring, well medicated! The difference is amazing :)

I failed my first on the reverse - something just didnt feel right and it went sooo wrong. Just couldnt work it out as id done it perfect in my practice in the morning. My instructor was really shocked too. The more i thought about it the more convinced i was the course was too short. After our holiday i had another lesson - my instructor informed me he happened to walk past another of his students doing the reversing and totally messing it up. He was again confused - so he walked past to look closer - the course set out too small! He complained and the guy got a second shot at the correct distance and was fine. My second test i was soooo nervous and shaking onthe clutch - I did it though but even more convinced it was set too short the first time! Cost me a bloody fortune to do it again! Keep going its worth doing when you have the freedom to go out and about with your horse!

I passed my driving test third time after losing the plot on the first one, doing an ocean sized reverse round corner on number two and not having to do reverse on number three. I worried about parking the jeep but now love it- apart from the crippling fuel cOnsumption.

With trailer test - I start having lessons end June! I had three with one instructor who because I struggled with reverse and got upset said ' do you really need to tow?' I didn't book anymore lessons and asked him to cancel my test booked for sept. Then I decided to buy a trailer out of my house deposit (oops) and practice. This was going ok so went with a different instructor and had a two hour lesson. Then a 1 day course split over two days - that was 385 including test fee. All this and not to mention my diesel costs! Add up the lessons test diesel and it won't be short of a grand!

Rescue Remedy made me much worse! It took me 4 tries to pass my driving test. I worked myself up far too much. In the end, I thought 'stuff it. I'm just going to drive.'

I guess none of the routes are better than others - I didn't like Northampton so went to Leighton Buzzard. oxford is a bit far.

I had another panic attack today - this time at the hospital !! (I don't have them all the time just in high level anxiety situations) - I was mean to have an endoscopy and asked for sedaction - they sprayed my throat with this stuff and i felt i couldn't breathe and had an attack! My heart rate shot up so they cancelled it. I am not doing very well this week am i!! AM going to go to the doctor and see what she says. They are rescheduling the procedure...but i am scared -perhaps more than i was for the test! How ironic!!
