Have the towing test a week today.

I have a two hour lesson Sunday morning then two hours before the test On Monday then the test! I am thinking of driving round the test routes beforehand in my car as havent done that. The instructor said my reverse is fine and hitching unhitching etc I just need to work more on road positioning and approach to junctions! I practiced with my trailer yesterday with the OH and that was ok though he said I should have waited at one point. I am afraid of being accuses of being hesitant!

Has anyone any final tips? Instructor seemed confident but if anything it will be my nerves that will be the hardest. I had the idea of pretending I was explaining everything to the examiner as i did it as if he had never towed, to distract my nerves!!

You seem to be doing it all ok so just carry on as you are

treat the test as FUN and it becomes much easier - seriously

Better to get a couple of hesitant minors than 1 serious/fail

Testing at WEEDON?

You will be fine just stay relaxed!! I passed mine in may! Just remember to use mirrors constantly ALL the time and keep to the speed limit, whether it be 30 or 60! You get penalised for going too slow as well as too fast!
Good luck!!

Speed limits! Im a very nervous driver, and during lessons I kept being told I was too hesitant and would fail for slowing down traffic .. I became obsessed with putting my foot down - result was several minors for not watching my speed enough! Also don't cry if you pass - the tester did not know what to make of me!! Good luck

The B+E test
No medical or theory test required
Read a number plate from a certain distance
VIDEO - Show Me Tell Me Questions - usually 5
The next three can be in any order:-
VIDEO - Reversing Exercise - done in test centre grounds if test conducted from practical test centre - some tests are now being done from training school grounds
VIDEO - Uncouple/couple up - done in test centre grounds if test conducted from practical test centre - some tests are now being done from training school grounds
One hour road drive - includes the independent drive and is done virtually the same as the basic car test

DISCLAIMER - I have no connection to any companies which may be featured in those videos

This is interesting BUT NOT RECOMMENDED – a B licence towing set up can be presented for the B+E test but L plates must be used for the test. So you can train yourself, go to test by yourself, fit L plates, do the test, then, pass or fail, remove L plates and drive away by yourself.
DSA B+E TEST AND VEHICLE/TRAILER REQUIREMENTS

SUPERVISING A B+E LEARNER
In April 2010 new rules were introduced for those supervising certain learner drivers but they only affected those supervising VOCATIONAL categories such as C1 C1+E D1 & D1+E where the supervising driver had those categories given to them for free when they passed a pre 1997 car test.
They do not affect those with a pre 1997 B+E licence who wish to supervise a B+E learner.
All B licence holders have B+E provisional on the paper part of their licence and can tow an empty or loaded trailer on all roads including motorways.
The usual rules apply when a learner is driving -
The supervising driver must be aged over 21
The supervising driver must have held a B+E licence for at least 3 years
L plates must be fitted to the front of the vehicle and the rear of the trailer
Correct insurance for a B+E learner

test tomorrow!!!

have a lesson before it.

had a lesson this morning and while the driving improved i appeared to have completely fortgotton the reverse!!Managed to calm down and do it on fourth attempt - but only have one go tomorrow!!

If you dont get a reverse with cones before test then find a quite road, park up on the right about 3 feet from kerb then reverse as soon as possible to the left kerb and then stop when straight

We are going to do it first thing in practice - I just worry I'll lose it and panic on the test - must remind myself to go slow and give the trailer time to turn so I can see it then straighten. You are allowed to pull forward twice? And can you get out to check the yellow line ( turning off engine)
