Does anyone know how much the test itself is? My OH needs this to tow his race car, hes a competent driver and I doubt will need to take any lessons, he makes reversing look like a doddle as is a mechanic and used to reversing etc. DVLA web site doesnt give any clues.
Many thanks in advance

£89 on a weekday.
I would suggest if he really is hot on towing and the road safety and correct driving for towing a trailer then he should be fine without lessons but having thought I was capable of passing without instruction and being wrong I would recommend he has one session first

Exit lanes from roundabouts are different with a trailer and this was what I failed on as I assumed it was the same as being in a car but it wasn't.

I was really safe in most other ways and was pretty good on my mirrors etc but still failed.

From reading the DVLA page it read like you didnt go on the roads, which I must admit it sounded a little odd?
Can you tell me what they asked you to do please

three off road exercises and about an hour on the road.

Reversing in a box in a snake sort of move, you must not cross the lines or it's a fail... unhitch and re-couple including all the pre-drive off checks and emergency breaking over a defined distance.

Although this is a Wales company there is a lot of info on the site that is relevant

ETS: I've just remembered when I was taking my test there was about to be a change in the law regarding flat bed trailers

so what I have said might not be true.
