Towing trailer/high winds - doing the right thing (or being a wuss)?

Really really wanted to take Maggie to a competition today. It is not v windy in London where I live, and we will be driving from Essex to Kent (just over 1 hours journey).

But I checked the Met Office weather forecast and apparently the wind is 22mph with even higher in gusts!! We only have a trailer and I just think it is far too windy and unsafe to tow, and it may also be very unpleasant for the horse so I am not going.

I am making the right decision, aren't I? Not at all used to making decisions re towing in windy conditions!
 
I think you have made the right decision. I wouldnt want to be towing in this wind

The difficulty is that forecasts aren't always right unfortunately! But I would always choose not to risk it - yes you feel fed up at missing an outing (especially if forecast turns out to be wrong!!) but I would FAR rather that than frighten, injure or god forbid kill my horse. I didn't go somewhere myself this week for the same reason. Had not been bad when I left work 15 miles away but got home and went to feed my horse and the gusts were frighteningly strong so there was no way I would risk it. There is after all always another day as long as all are safe and sound. Hate having to make the decision though!!
 
if it was local then I would have still gone, but you are going over the QE2 bridge which automatically increases the chances of a buffetting side wind, however it does very much depend on the direction of the wind
