Hi,

the car search continues..........

Have seen a SWB diesel 2.8 pajero and was wondering if anyone has any experiences of them and what can they tow weight wise?

my trailer is 850kg unladen and will generally be towing one 16hh but hoping to get something i could possibly put my 15hh in at the same time on the odd occasion.

your thoughts and experiences are greatly appreciated!

A definite for me!! I had one of these little bruts and they are really strong!! I use to tow my friend horse trailer with it, and you wouldn't even notice it was on the back!! You would have to check the weight of the vehicle to see what it can tow (think its a certain % of its weight).
What year is it? If you can, ask if it has had the diesel pump replaced, as this can go on them, and although its not too much of a problem when your driving it about town, it maybe an issue when towing - the car will cut out on you, loosing all power steering etc. Its not too costly to have replaced, but I would defo recommend asking. Is it a fresh import or has it been in the UK for long? Has it got the winter pack on it (heated screens, mirrors etc)

I bought a low mileage 2.8 auto Paj (SWB) 2 years ago and apart from the seals going , on the fuel pump at Christmas (less than £150 - and that included a few other bits and pieces) it's never let me down.

It makes light work of an IW 511 trailer and two big horses (650-700 kg each!) It's a grey import, absolutely no rust, air cond. and all mod cons. If it fell apart and that seems unlikely at present) I'd definitely hve another and I WOULD have auto - makes towing a breeze! It outdoes my 4WD tractors in the mud (but it does have serious tyres!) and during the bad weather I towed vehicles twice as big as it up our steep icy drive - even towed a 7.5 tonne lorry up!

LOVE IT!!!!! i have an s reg one, tows beautifully. i had a 15h cob and 14.2 conn x and it towed no problems! they can be expensive to fuel when ur just running about town, but i love mine, feel so safe and secure in it. someone ran into back of me few months ago, the front of thier car was all mashed in, not a scratch on mine! they hit the tow bar! also drives great in the snow and ice, the really bad snow we had there i pulled out quite a few people! have i given it enough praise?!
