I am about to buy an N Reg 1995 Ford Maverick. It is a 2.7 litre Turbo Diesel, does anyone know the maximum towing capacity of the vehicle? I have read varying things ranging from 1500kg (think this is for the newer petrol ones) to 2800kg.

I plan to tow 1 x small horse in an Ifor Williams trailer, I wonder if it is powerful enough to take 2 small horses?

Confused! Any ideas?

We used to tow a 16hh and a 15hh with a 3 door Maverick in a 505. I don't know anything about cars but my parents told me it towed well.

I used to tow with a maverick, fine if you stay on the road but as soon as I went off road ie into a muddy field the gear box went. at about 1.5k a time it took me 3 times in 2 years to get rid of the car fast.

My friend had the same problem with her terrano, so be very careful.

I've had 3 Terrano's and all towed beautifully and I've not had any problems with them either. Mine have been both the SWB and LWB and both were more than capable of towing two horses in an Ifor 510 and we have steeeeep hills down here! I'm sure you'll be fine in a Maverick.
