Hi,

I'd appreciate some information from anyone who has towed with a manual gear box vehicle?
I'm thinking of buying a second hand Mitsubishi Shogun with a manual gear box.
Everyone I know has an automatic vehicle, so I'd really appreciate some comments from people who know....
Our yard access is through a sloping paddock, so easy manoeuvrability is important.
My worry is, will I have my hands full, managing gear changes plus steering, when setting off on slippery ground or when backing up to the trailer... ?

Thank you

Had 2 manual Fronteras and 2 Terranos, never had a problem, towed with auto 1 Rexton and an M clas, never a problem either, cant see a manual Shogun being any bother.

Always towed with manuals - a mix of mitsubishi, land rover, nissan etc. Take it slow and steady and you will be fine. If you are a bit unsure, take a manual care to a slightly sloping piece of road ( with no traffic ) and practice rocking the car between clutch and pulling away, letting the slope take you drift very slightly down hill, as you let the clutch down again. It is great for clutch practice and will give you confidence. You'll be fine :)

Never towed with an automatic, old range rover, discovery and now a land cruiser all manual gearboxes and never had any problems manoeuvring on any surface. I’m sure you’ll be fine but maybe a bit of practice to get used to it if you’re used to automatics.

We towed with a manual shogun sport. hands down the best towing vehicle, and we regret selling it.
If you're not used to driving a manual, as long as you have the correct licence, just practice before you tow.
