Towing with a VW Touareg - dish the dirt....PLEASE!!!

Hello!

I am having the most terrible run of bad luck with cars and I'm now looking for my FOURTH towing vehicle in the last 12 months..... :-(

I won't bore you with my bad luck but I'm considering a VW Touareg as the next car - so for those that tow with them can you please let me know all the BAD POINTS as well as the good.

I shall watch this one with interest. Have just bought a VW Touareg to tow my equitrek star treka. Not towed yet as 1. Not needed to go out since picking up the car last week and 2. Trailer is parked on the field and I think the only thing that will shift it will be a tractor. I am borrowing an ifor at the weekend so will let you know how I get on. My last towing vehicle was a Nissan Pathfinder which I loved but max towing weight 3t, whereas equitrek max weight is 3.5t, needed to change car anyway so have gone for the Touareg.
 
I had the last version of the toerag (as we lovingly called it) fab fab fab car loved everything about it except the fuel/tax bill! I do about 25000 miles a year with work) ... But for towing it was fab I towed a large Dutch warm blood in a 510 and it didn't change the way it drove... On or off road - I never once had to use low ratio when towing (did once in snow tho - not towing)... Great car if I didn't do so many miles I'd still have it !
 
We tow an Equitrek with a 09 Touareg - I can't think of anything bad to say! It is fab - comfortable, reliable and copes well with the weight of the box and horses. Would have another one at the drop of a hat :-)
 
We also call it the toerag! It's old now - had it about 8 years and done about 300k miles but I love it and not a bad thing to say about it, I tow an equitrek with 2 large horses but also flat trailer for collecting haylege etc and always does the job.
 
Nothing useful to add, except I think they are absolutely lush and if money was no object ........................
