Has anyone towed with the Vauxhall Insignia? Towing capacity of 1600kg with the Derby lightweight trailer. I'm looking at getting a car for towing as well as general use so I don't want a gas guzzler. Any recommendations?
Derby is 675 empty so with a horse about 500 that is 1200ish so well inside you 1600 max towHas anyone towed with the Vauxhall Insignia? Towing capacity of 1600kg with the Derby lightweight trailer. If not already aware - the 3500 limit is the vehicle GVW added to the trailer plated MAM and not the actual weightI'm on a B license so I know I have to stay within 3500kg total weight.

If horse is say 525kg and trailer is 675 empty =1200kg then down plating the trailer to 1300 will leave 100 spareThank you, yes I've studied all of your towing threads on here. Thank you for posting them. so as I understand it I would need the trailer downplated from 1700 to 1600 as that's the cars max towing capacity.
I've just realised the GVW of the car I'm looking at is 2180 so would put me over.
The other car I'm looking at is the Citron C4 which is:
GVW: 1830
Towing capacity: 1550
So that would be 3430kg total with the trailer down plated.
I'll only be towing a 14.2hh pony.
Have I done that right?

2180 + 1300 = 3480 so under the 3500 limit
