Towing with the newer Kia Sorento 2.2 CRDI 194 BHP

Hello, Thinking of buying a 2015 Kia Sorento 2.2 CRDI with a braked towing capacity (TC) of 2500kg to tow my ifor 505 (1,000 kg) and two 16hh Irish sport horses (1,100 kg). Does anyone have one for towing? I used to have an old (2004) Sorento 2.5CRDI with a braked TC of I think 2800 kg that was brilliant but worried that newer one with lower TC might not be up to the job.

Cant help I'm afraid as I tow with the older model. My husband thought i was nuts buying an older car (2007) and it does pain me BUT they have the higher braked towing capacity and with two (easily) 640kg horses I needed the extra poke!

I'm Confused - The newer ones with a 2.2 diesel engine have more poke than the older (2007) models! By poke do you mean brake horsepower and torque?

Newer - 2.2 diesel engine have 194 bhp with 322lb ft of pull from 2000rpm
Older - 2.5 diesel has only 168 bhp with 289lb ft of torque from 200rpm

It has to manual as well with the newer ones does it? Auto capacity is a fair bit lower again. I've looked but still sticking with my 54 plate monster with the higher capacity.

Yes the manual has increased TC (2500kg) compared to the auto (2000). The terrible rust on the chassis and the poor mpg really put me off the older ones.

There are good ones out there I promise, mines 14 years old, no rust & does 33 mpg towing or not - which I don't consider tooooo bad for what it is & does.
