ok so here is a question for you all

so more and more we are getting hybred cars coming on the market

and i have been told the government want to get rid of diesel cars (may be wrong on that

so if you where going to buy a new car with which you would be towing 2 large horses behind

what would you buy??

and when i say buy car your buying brand new like 0 miles on clock type new

OH says the new Range Rover hybrid is around 400BHP from memory, so that should tow.

No tax.

Lower fuel costs.

Sounds good to him!

ETA - he looked it up, 2 1/2 tonne towing capacity. 91mpg combined.

I thought it was torque more than bhp that was important when towing?

I don't think that diesel vehicles are going to be forced off the road for a few years yet. If you think about it, almost all delivery/builders vans and HGVs run on diesel and there are no signs of them being replaced by any other form of fuel in the near future (apart from in some urban areas) because there isn't a viable alternative at the moment. And yes, torque is more important than BHP, which is another reason why lorries pull their massive weights with diesel engines (as do coaches and many railway engines). I've just replaced my day to day car with another diesel that does 50 mpg and tows my caravan. If I was to replace my ageing Shogun trailer tow car I would buy another Shogun (especially as they are stopping making them). But then I don't have an unlimited budget and can't afford to buy new.

Yes torque is the important one - in electric vehicles the torque is much higher. Still I don't think I'll be splashing out on a tesla anytime soon.
