Towing?

Just wondering really... do u have to have a 4x4 to tow a box or can any other cars manage it? Not that i have a box but im just wondering! thanks

you need to have a look at the kerb weights of cars as its that that makes them suitable/legal for towing (hence why 4x4s are the obvious choice- heavy and made for towing!)- obviously lighter trailers can be pulled by lighter cars but my preference would always be for a big, fat, gas guzzling 4x4 if i'm honest

we tow using a mondeo, would love a 4x4 but money doesn't grow on trees! We tow our single ifor williams and it works well, but wouldn't feel happy if it was a double.

We tow with a Vectra but the trailer is a single horse Cheval Liberte which weighs 500kg unladen.

You would be better with a 4x4 they are also better if you happen to park on grass or in mud as they can pull you out, if you get stuck. Whereas a car may struggle.
