Hello

I am wanting to tow 2 well built 16.3hh horses in a Ifor 510 with full kit. Can anyone advise me what kind of 4x4 I will need or where I can look to find out?

thanks

You need to look at the legal towing weights for the 4x4. For an Ifor 510 you would need something that is legal to tow at least 2.8t (plus a bit so you have got "a bit in hand" so to speak.

You planning to have this as your main car as well? There are a few threads on here recently about towing vehicles. May be worth doing a search.
Land Rover Discovery (at least)
Mitsubishi Shogun (LWB)
Toyota

I tow with a Mitsu Shogun. It has a tow capacity of 3.3t so I am fairly confident it will get me out of most stiuations with little bother.

Hi i have an Ifor 510 and 2 very big horses too and i use a Jeep Cherokee which is fine - i have also used a Mercedes think its called an ML? and i couldnt even feel the trailer on the back.

A good old Defender.3.5t towing capacity.

I use an old R reg 2.5 Vauxhall frontera Diesel Sport , this one has the 2.5 Isuzu engine in it. My maximum towing weight is 3 ton and its great it just keeps pulling and is economical when driving solo i.e. 30 mpg. I would like to change to a Discovery but whilst this old girl keep solidering on I will keep her.

Land Rover Defender 110 TD5 engine, fab car! I love it - pulls anything, goes anywhere (good off-road tyres), carries anything. Blooming expensive to maintain mind you...

Ive got a Landy Defender 110 double cab pick up (new TD4 engine) fantastic vehicle when towing, love driving in the snow in it. Tows my Star Trekka fully laoded with no probs
