Townfields Saddlers: anyone had a bad experience?

I bought a bit from Townfields at the RIHS. It's too big so they said I could send it back and change for a smaller one. This I did but they've returned it saying it's not one of their bits as this has a tag on from a supplier they don't use. I have a receipt but the still are basically saying I'm lying about buying it from them! I know I def got it from them as I remember the stall and it's in it Townfields Bag, my receipt is from them also.

I now have to wait to see if the sales assistant remembers from the stand (I'm sure she served loads of people that day so we'll see!)

Any one else had any bad experiences with them? How was it resolved? They normally have been really good when I bought from them at big shows. But I'm afraid to say the way they have dealt with this is leaving a VERY bad taste in my mouth.
 
Sorry But i love Townsfield and have known Adrian and the team for years and years, never ever had a problem with them and I don't use anyone but them as Adrian is very helpful compared to most other saddlers i've had the mis fortune to come across.
Did you send them a copy of the receipt??
 
Not yet as they're not interested in it. They're adamant it's not one of their bits. If I get no joy from them tomorrow a letter will be sent off detailing everything and a copy of the receipt.

I've spoken to two shop assistants and two partners and they come across as though they think I'm trying to pull a fast one. I don't understand why I would try and return a bit to them if I hadn't bought it from them. I have a receipt and 2 people with me who can confirm I got it from them!

Not one has been freindly or helpful at all. Only the lady I spoke to at the start who said it would be no problem to exchange it for a smaller size!
 
Nothing but the highest praise for them. Had to change something I bought from them at a show and they could not have been more helpful.
 
I had all but given up with the expected phonecall today, had even rung them to remind them, then Adrian rang. He was actually very polite and helpful. Has asked me to send the bit back with copy of the receipt etc and he is going to see what he can do for me. So fingers crossed!
