having got such a helpful response to my questions last week about the warrior L200 am going to try again!

Had a look at one of these with the ifor william back top and it looks absolutleyl perfect for my 'lifestyle'.

i presently have a disco which tows brilliantly but is on it's last legs :-(
I am sure the toyota won't pull as well but want to know it will do the job. so anyone with experience can give me their thoughts.

Also how reliable and how many to the gallon towing or not towing?

so it's a Toyota Hilux double cab 280EX 2005

any thoughts much appreicated!
ta!

I don't know from personal experience but I used to work at a garage and when I was looking for a towing vehicle for everyday as well this came recommended by the fellas (though as you say not as great as a Disco (my dream car)).

Dad has a Hilux. Its a 58 reg double cab and absolutely fantastic. It tows my equitrek L with two cobs in no problem. It is fantastic on fuel (we have two others at work and they are too).

Its very comfortable to ride in and lovely to drive.

When I come to replace my ranger I will be looking for a Hilux.

Very good truck however a big down side is the towing capacity only 2250kg so you may struggle to tow two horses legaly however ive towed about 3.5 tons with them in the past and they will pull, quite good on fuel if you go steady 30+ ish solo, towing 20/25
hope that helps

my trailer weighs 1 tonne
this leaves 1250kg for two horses. probabaly not enough for 2 17hh heavyweights but plenty for my 16hh TBx who i reckon comes in at about 550kg.
I usually travel only her, but if i wanted, or needed, to take another this would leave me with 750kg which would cover most horses.

So am I missing something as this 'limited' towing capacity is often mentioned, or are people just saying that i will notice a difference from the disco which has a towing capacity of 3.5kg.
or that my IFW510 will be wasted as i won;t be able to put 2 huge hosses in as it was designed for?
Perfect - you said it did comfortably tow more (reassuring to hear) and i guess i am really interested in hearing how people feel theirs tows.
The double cab and seperate back would suit me down to the ground. having tried one i don;t think i'll get something better suited to my desired 'set up' but concerned as so many comment on the 1250kg towing weight?
Anyone out there who uses one? what do you tow and how does it feels. really don't want to make a mistake i regret later.

The towing weight is more about what the manufacturer is happy with, there is little physical difference between a hilux and say a ford ranger which is rated to tow 3000kg so if 2250 is enough you will be good to go ..
a friend of mine has my old 02 hilux it is still going strong at well over 200k miles and he has spent little on it apart from servicing, tyres etc , they were the last of the japanesse made hiluxs, now all post 2006 are made in south africa or thiland , if its tidy and been looked after you will have a good truck..

Thanks perfect! Help ful comments and I'd be feeling a bit lonely on here without you!!
I am nearly convinced but anyone else on here got a 2005 hi lux, or thereabouts , and have anything to add.
This is last chance for input!
please!
