Toytown retired at Gatcombe today

I remember Blenheim 2005 when it was pouring with rain and they calmly slid down the hill of mud to the water and then went on to win it =) Such a good horse

I thought the ceremony was really tacky....! Didn't enjoy it at all. But I loved the look on Zara's face =]

I think Ostrich and I must have been standing next to each other! Don't know what was tacky about it. An account of his competitive life and achievements, and then the ceremonial removing of the saddle, is what they do. Tamarillo spent most of his ceremony bucking!!

I went to Gatcombe specially to see this today, got a pretty good viewing spot and thought it all absolutely fitting to a great horse who looked magnificent. Zara looked very tearful leading him out and gave him a big kiss on the nose in the collecting ring.

it was lovely, glad I was wearing sunnies as I was totally ready to blub! I wish they had run the vid and then had them cantering round together after as I wanted to watch both! It really summed up their wonderful partnership and amazing achievements together.

Read the article. Brought a tear to my eye. I guess we all know how she feels, we all love our horses the same whether our achivemnts are world championships or a canter along a stubble field. The lucky thing for Toytown is that I am sure he will have a lovely retirement with someone who will continue to enjoy him, although at a more sedate pace.

Lovely to see toy town retire at Gatcombe his home, all the best to a truly great horse :)

Sorry I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion and you were just casting yours but sorry I did not find anything tacky about the ceremony, emotional maybe but not tacky
