I have just purchased a horse which is freezemarked with a diamond prefix then p38 he is a chestnut gelding, approx 14.3- 15hh has an old wire scar on off side front leg on bulb of heal, 2 white hind socks and a white stripe, he would be between 15 and 20 yrs old I would think, a real sweety, apparently came from up north somewhere, any info on tracing his freezemark would be good, of if he sounds familiar to anyone please let me know

A picture of him would be really helpful

Good luck in finding some history on him.
Might also want to post in the stolen horse section, it'll remain on the 1st page for a lot longer and should get more views

Try farmkey to see if the mark was registered with them or another freezemark co. They will give you back a description of the horse which may include his true age. You have to pay to have the horse re-registered in your name & for a fee they may agree to pass on a letter to any previous owners if you wish to contact them, as they are unable to give you any details of names & adresses due to data protection.

Did this horse not have a passport?

He has a passport but a new one so no history, I have tried Farmkey but his mark was done by ESS which is no longer running so I`m at a dead end

Someone must have the ESS database otherwise all the people with ESS freezemarks have no comeback.. Is it worth trying BHS they may know who has taken on the data?
