Tracing history from a brand mark?

Hi, my friend has just bought a branded hanovarian gelding (the H brand with the horses head at each point). he also has a three number code branded under is mane on the left hand side of his neck. We were wondering if there is any way of tracing his past using this info? or if there are any specific websites we can use to do so? his passport is a UK issued one, and looks to have been issued when they became a legal requirement, so has no useful info with regards to tracing him.

The 'H' just means it's Hanovarian, not sure about the numbers. Brands

The numbers will be your key to tracing can you clearly define them. If so you will be able to trace the horse with the Hanovarian horse society.
