Has anyone got any experience of successfully tracing the lost papers of a KWPN horse?
My boy is branded KWPN (confirmed by them via photo) but they say unless he is microchipped they can't find out who he is. They said that to DNA test, I would still need to know his sire.
I would so love to know who he is.. can anyone help/advise??

We tried to trace our (so we were told) KWPN mare but had a similar problem but she was microchipped - long story but we eventually got her breeding, not KWPN but NPR. I must admit that even with a microchip number the KWPN were not particularly helpful. We didn't need to know the sire but the DNA was from hair complete with the follicle. It is also expensive - the cost of getting the KWPN registration papers is also not cheap. If you ned a contact I have the email address of the person from the KWPN I dealt with. Their english is not too bad but you have to be very direct with your questions, anything vaguely ambiguous confused her. Do you have any information at all apart from the brand, the name or passport info. Eventually I just spent hours on the internet chasing down every available tenuous link. But it was well worth it, we have a mare who is so much better bred that who we thought we had. My daughter wouldn't change her for the world mind, even if she had come back as the offspring of the local dustcart horse. If I can be of any help just pm me
