I own a 16.1 22 year old mare Belgian Warmblood. I have discovered that she is out of a top international showjumper and have also found out she had a filly aged 4 also out of an international showjumper. Its a bit like who do you think you are for horses. She is my happy hack but am excited that she has a little bit of fame in her background.Any one else traced their horses history.

A woman traced my first horse, a well bred Anglo Arab. That was fine, she got in contact, asked how she was, invited me to go meet her dam etc. Then the problems began. The dam was too old to breed again and she decided that I was going to loan her my mare to breed a foal to keep. She nagged and nagged until I gave in (I was only 18) She came and got her and was on the phone every couple of days for months. Mare went to a very classy stallion and hated the whole experience ( this was my fault ?!?) Eventually she was in foal and duly had a gorgeous colt foal. The foal was weaned and I had to go and retrieve my mare which cost me a fortune I didn't have on groom's wages. The best of it was she then sold the foal for nearly 4k to a German stud (this was 1974 so a LOT of money) Foal went on and became a very successful eventer.

I got NOTHING out of the whole exercise, not even a thank you.

I would now be very wary of anyone trying to trace one of mine.

The passport number will bring up and information that is proven the BWP have a very good studbook run by Rudi .

I've tried with my 30 yr old. Contacted her freeze mark company and they wrote to the people they had on record and gave them my email address but never heard anything :(

Though she was freeze marked in 1986 so no saying the owners are still around or at that address. Would love to know something about her past tho
