I have just been searching online at various bits and bobs and I happened to come across a picture gallery on the Endurance website and my old boy is there competing! I know he was sold on again after I sold him (even though I asked for first refusal). But I am desperate to find out how he is getting on, he really was very special to me and I was forced to sell with my circumstances at the time. Does anyone have any ideas on how I could track down the owner? I could offer lots of info on his past if she is interested, or is it a bit cheeky and should I just leave well alone?

Thanks in advance.

thank you, I've emailed the endurance website to see if they can pass my contact details on (not sure if they'll bother though!). If I do manage to get hold of her do you think it's a bit cheeky me as an ex owner coming along and asking how he's doing?

I don,t think its cheeky, maybe you could put a message on the website, someone might know the owner they might well be really interested in the horse,s past. I have had contact with my horses previous owners and have found it helpful to know my horses past. Good luck with your search!

Definatly not cheeky. In the reverse I found Arabs first registered owners and I've invited them to come see her whenever they want. (however they live like 5 hours away so not likely) they told me all about her winnings, her known background and sent some lovely pictures of her. They might love to hear from you!

well through finding out the lady's name and googling his registered name I've found the riding club they are doing endurance with and have emailed the lady incharge so to speak! Really excited now!! :D

Not cheeky at all, I've found my mares previous owner through this forum and she sent me some lovely pics and told me lots about her. If it were me I'd be touched that a previous owner thought that much of the horse that they wanted to know how he was doing now. :)

Wish I had as much luck as you. I've been trying to find my old horse for 2 or three years now. I found someone on here who bought him off the person I sold him to (I also asked for first refusal) but she sold him on and all she could tell me was that he'd gone to Cambridgeshire (even further away from me :( ). His passport was issued by BS, emailed them asking them to pass on my details with no joy, but I didn't really expect them to bother TBH.

I would love to have him back but would be happy just to know if he's Ok.

If anyone knows of a little bay gelding named Ashill Edward, please let me know.

Marmalade76 that's really sad :(.

I don't know if I'm going to get much luck with responses but his name's everywhere on the League Tables on Endurance GB, so if nothing else I know that she's doing a lot with him and enjoying him :)

If you have the riders name search for her on facebook and send her a message. you don't have to be a 'friend' to do that!

The problem is that there are quite a few people with her name and I have no idea what she looks like, I don't fancy messaging the wrong person by mistake they'll think I'm a right nutter :p

glad you found your old horse :)

ive been looking for mine now... trouble is hes a 15.3 bay gelding (called jack when i had him).... parelli re-schooled as he bronced me off causing a bad injury - bought from burnley

but a lot of bay horses out there!! but if he sounds familiar to anyone let me know!!! im expecting the worse tbh!...

sorry to hi-jack again.... but ive posted and think ive found my old horse's BE record! :o

How can you trace this further.....? OP you seemed to be doing better than me :D

Id really like to know how he is doing! :o

I have asked a friend who lives in the area if she can help track them down for you!

Thank you so much!!:D

Noodle_ have you emailed the website people (officially the technical term! lol), not sure if they'd get back you though...or get the name of his rider and google her and your old horses name and see if they pop up under a Riding Club etc

You can see the riders name and the owner's name on the BE website? If so, put that name into facebook and see who comes up! Simples!

done it.......theres loads with the same name, and none with a horsey profile picture lol

Thank you so much!!:D

I have looked a few times for the ginger boy's old owner (bought from a dealer) without success. Spurred on by this thread I looked on fb (again, done so before) and think I've found her!

Have messaged her to ask if she used to own him, fingers crossed it is the right person, and that everyone on here can find their horses/owners :D

I typed Ashill Edward into the National Equine Database and FOXLYNCH BIG TIME came up with a BSJA record. That is a bay gelding so he could have been renamed. Contact NED and they may be able to tell you.

ooooooooooooooooooooo just heard back from the lady at the RC she says that Sid is out on loan to the lady who is doing endurance with him now and she has forwarded on my email to her :D

oh, I hope he hasn't been passed around too much :(

He already had both names when I bought him. Ashill Edward was his original name, then George Edwins re-named him and had someone jump him in juniors. He then got a height cert in the original name, he measured out and was sold to a hunting home from which I bought him. Passports were not mandatory when I sold him and I think the person I sold him to used the JMB cert to get a passport, hence him going back to his original name.

Quick update! Heard from Billy's loaner, he's doing really well with his dressage and endurance with her and she loves him to bits (thank god!) she sent me some pics and he looks amazing :D.

I can't believe how quickly it all happened, it was only this afternoon that I saw a pic of him online and since then I've managed to trace his owner and speak to her - to everyone else searching, don't give up! It's all worth it in the end :)

Via this forum and Facebook, the previous&post owners of my first pony got in touch and I also recognised the previous owner(who had posted a 'Seeking info on...' thread) of a friend's first horse :) Everyone all now in touch and FB friends &lots of lovely memories&photos shared:)
