Does anyone offer land owners insurance which covers the use of agricultural equipment for short distances on the road between parcels of land?

I have given up insuring the tractor separately since it's never out of my garden, but I'd like to use it to top a meadow a couple of miles away without having to trailer it and the topper down there (I don't have the trailers to do that).
Separate insurance just isn't worth it for two or three tootles down the road a year.

My dads is insured with the farmers union and it was £75. He too never leaves the yard and only goes for a pootle now and then to a ralley or something. Not helpful as it is still seperate, but not that costly.

I've been looking into this for my (agricultural) quad. NFU would only do it as an attachment to another policy (house, buildings, whatever) and the local broker couldn't find anything. JCB do that kind of insurance so I contacted them. They wanted all sorts of security and it to be in a locked building when not in use (which is the reason for the road trips, to keep it in my garage at home) and to do a fully comp policy - at £700 p.a.!!
Ssshhh don't tell anyone but I decided to risk it without - I do about 300 yards each way no more than 20 times a year.

Why is this acceptable! If this were a car people would be going ape!

We have quads etc and some only go on the road once a year! But they are still insured! What happens if while you are doing your little journey something goes wrong and you bump into someone else's vehicle.... Oh that's right you will be another uninsured driver.

I decided not to bother to insure my quad. I don't use it on the road. On the other hand, I have a couple of people wanted to get some practical experience. They get awfully bored with the padded suits!:D
