Well following on from RushyJ's post earlier and a few other posts in the last few weeks about traditional cobs, I have a post to make which I need your opinions on.

As we know, there is no affiliated county level traditional showing for solid traditional cobs.

I'm asking you how many of you would be interested if an affiliated showing series started for said such traditionals, which would be all mainstream shows featuring HOY's, Hickstead, Windsor, etc and how many of you would be very interested in entering if there were?

Classes would be split up into classes similar based to how other show classes are and be judged the same also. Basically, just a whole new series and classes and society solely for all the traditionals out there.

Opinions?

Sorry ran out of edit time.

It would be a governing UK based society for Irish cobs, including solids, coloureds, part breds and type.
They would have to be registered with this governing society which then gives access to enter affiliated level with year end championships at HOY's and RIHS.

I think it would be easier to hog it ;) :D

Show cobs then yes, I'd agree, I'm not usually a hairy person. :) But for all the stunning native traditional stamps out there which are more true to that type than a show cob,and for other 'hairy' owners who love their hairy pride and joys... there is nothing for them.

Thankyou for your reply though, am keeping tabs on the replies and adding them all up after.

lol! haha XD

Got a few things up at various places and shall be bringing forward all replies next week at a meeting planned....so every reply counts! :D

:DI't would be fantastic count me in also could you let me know the results as the british show horse association suggested something similar could be done and then presented to their board as well if it could be proven there was a call for it. Might also be worth sending the results to some of the big shows:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
Thank you you just made my day

I know there are folks out there attempting to bring together a Traditional Gypsy Cob Society - google that.

They are putting together a stud book, they have a huge DNA database and long term plan to have shows for the breed.

I personally would love more classes for my chap, he is coloured so I can do BSPA/CHAPS, and with Trailblazers they are allowing hairy cobs in their worker classes so I finally have another class I can do with him.

The breed can vary in size and shape, but you can't miss a good stamp - they really stand out with their quality, temperament and movement.

In the US they are far more ahead, they have a stud book, society and shows for them.

I don't own a traditional cob. (i'm in to my native ponies :p) But i think your idea is an excelent one. I've seen so many traditional cobs hogged and trimed just so there owners can show them and it's such a shame. :( Traditional cobs are so butiful it's sad that you can't show them if they are solid.

Yes i`ve got asolid traditional hairy & would love to show at a higher level why should the colourds get all the fun please pm me to keep me updated cheers

I would love to show winston traditionally. :D
unfortunately I dont have stable to keep him clean in. Feathers arent easy to keep clean in a clay based field. So I did a evil thing and hogged and clipped the feather on him. Kinda like a smart cob though. Maybe I should buy one of each :D Now thats an idea :D

Hi,
Not a traditional cob owner myself, got na oversied trimmed one. But would be nice to see show schedules offering classes not just to bloody coloureds
