Ive just seen this on the 'Holme Trakehner stud' website. How horrendous for the poor things!

How tragic, the stud owners who originally bred them must be so upset, after giving them a good start to hear they starved to death of thirst and lack of food.
People like the woman who did this should get the same treatment as a punishment unless she is mentally ill.

Jesus I had a heart attack then as I know a Sue Jenkins who lives in the same area, but it is not the same woman as the one I know has lived in Spain for at least 30 years.

Absolutely disgusted by the photos and articles - how the woman can blame anyone but herself is beyond me

I think the holme park stud are looking to see if any of their horses are alive and are bringing them back if poss. Horrible and tragic circumstances

"Antonio Moreno, a spokesman for Spanish animal charity Colectivo Acma, said: "The situation is chaotic.

"When we got there one horse had just died while a colt was on the verge of death. Many other horses were so ill they were unable to stand. It was horrific."

Under Andalucian law all horses seized in such cases must be put down.

Animal activists are lobbying to allow the horses to be rescued and given new homes or repatriated to the stud in Britain where they were bred.

Donations and charity funds are being used to feed and treat the remaining 36 horses including the Trakehners.

Jenkins has claimed the animals died after drinking salinated water or eating hay containing thorns."

Pictures of the horses can be seen here (an article in German, trying to raise money for the food and water supply for the horses) :
