Looking to get first trailer. Need to tow 2 16.2's we are still sourcing a vehicle, but likely to be something like range rover, hilux or defender (as have heard good things on towing capability)

Found a Richardson Supreme Rosette for sale, im not familiar with these and it says it has a timber floor.

Preferably I would want an aluminium floor, but wanted to know your thoughts on wooden. I'm aware the soundness of floor will need checking. Do wooden ones tow easier being that little bit heavier? (I'm guessing this!)

Also how much is it to put a new wooden floor into a trailer?

Any comments on points above and also recommendations for your preferred trailer all welcomed!! Looking to spend £2,500 ish

For that you could get an ifor with metal floor. Friend had one, nice trailer but the front ramp weighed a ton! The floor would worry me too, you could end up spending your budget and then some....

Thanks Highlands. They all seem to be a little more money than the Richardson. Agree though, wouldn't want to spend further £ on replacement floor. Do you know how much this costs?

An ifor 510 would suit you nicely. You could get one for around that. We have a 2007 model and not had any probs with it and now worth not much less than we paid for it.

Hi
If you need any advice on the Richardson please PM me.
Also you cannot get these new as the company has ceased trading.
The 510 is now a 511 and IMO not as robust a model.
A second hand 510 can be anything from 2500 to 3500

Consider a Cheval Liberte 2004 - mine takes two 16.2's and absolutely love it - its about 900 empty with max weight of 2000 .. it has a built in 'feed trough' at the front and a lockable tack section :D

We have a Richardson Supreme with a wooden floor and we love it. We get the floor regularly checked and we have now had it partially covered with very thin metal sheet to stop the rain getting the top damp. It tows well the ramps are not heavy. The front ramp opens on the "pavement" side rather than out into the road in case of emergencies.
