Hey peeps,
I am taking my horse on a long journey this weekend for a beach holiday. She usually travels fine in my hb506 with the slatted rubber matting and no bedding. She never normally wees on it but the farthest we have been is about 1.5 hours. This weekend will be 4 hours. I am worried if she wees then it will make the rubber matting slippy and she will fall over and hurt herself (yes, I am a massive overthinker). Should I put bedding down and if so shavings or straw or will this just make it worse?

You are not overthinking. That is what may happen. You should always have bedding while travelling. Shavings usually best. Have a fab holiday!

Will they not clog up the slats and stop the water running out or make it more slippy? X

My boy has a sloppy poo in the trailer , would it be worth putting some shavings down to mop up the liquid ?

I use shavings. After discovering my boy doesn't pee in the trailer, I did try running it down to nothing, but he started slipping on corners on the poo, so we went back up to about 1 inch coverage, back half.

I hadn't really thought of shavings as I don't really see anyone use them in trailers (only lorries ). Getting my new trailer hopefully next week so thanks for the reminder !

Aubiose is really absorbant. But any thing is better than nothing. Deep enough for no splashing.
