Anyone used one? I'm wanting to get one so that I can see what my horses are doing in the trailer. Would have to work in the dark too. Anyone got any tips. There are a few on e bay, but I'm not sure what to look for...

Hi, I have the Trailer Vision one (google Trailer Vision). It is the older type (bought 2004). I have the camera in the trailer(batteries) and monitor in truck (cigarette lighter socket). I cant recommend these enough as you will definately drive more carefully when you can see what is going on in the back. I am going to get an upgrade to the more recent one, which runs off a leisure battery, as I find this older version will sometimes pick up garage forecourt feeds and people's sky channels!! I would spend as much as you can, if there is ever a problem in the trailer, you can act straight away etc. I think every trailer should have one. These ones work in the dark as well. If you are near Rideaway near York, they sell them in the shop and have a demo one which they will go through with you etc.

I use this

Its brill, fantastic colour picture and does the job just as well as anything wired in, IMHO. You just need to remember to have a spare camera if you are travelling long distances as I found the battery life is about 2 1/2 hours. the monitor plugs into the cigarrette lighter.Should you sell your vehicle, this can come with you- saves you buying another one too!
Note the price difference when described as a horse/trailer monitor! :eek:Here:

Cheeky swines putting the price up for horses! They think we're all made of money. Thats one of the ones that I was looking at earlier. Does it work in the dark?

Yes it does work in the dark, although doesn't have infra red, but I have a light switch in my box so can flick that on from the cab if I need to. Value for money its brill.
Am more than pleased with my baby monitor!:)

I have the wireless Trailer Vision one and its brilliant. I have a camera in the trailer, a reversing one on the back, both of which are wired into the trailer electrics. The 7" screen plugs into the cigarette lighter. The pictures are in colour and also have infra red for when it gets dark. Can not recommend it highly enough :D
