Has anybody used one? I’ve just bought a lovely older 401. It looks like it’s been kept undercover for most of its life as the paint hasn’t faded at all.

Is it a pain to put on and off and can you do it alone?

I don’t have the option to keep it undercover.

We've used one. It was brilliant - a bit tricky to get over the top by yourself but it was an extra large old Rice so pretty bulky. I tended to use a broom handle to hook it over.

It lasted a good few years until a big storm one winter when the trailer was stored at a friend's. I hadn't realised that the straps had become loose over time and the cover partially blew off, ripping the straps away from the cover. If I'd realised and had tightened them up, it would have been fine.

I guess you can do alone, but I do my caravan one and its a pain as you have the chimney and air vents on top, but trailer hasn't so must be doable

Can‘t remember why but when I bought my new Ifor Williams I was advised by the dealer not to bother with a cover - condensation?

I bought one for a new 511, it’s a real pain in the **** to get on, you can’t do it with just one person you need two or ideally three. Ours was on over the first winter, the trainer was standing outdoors, come the first time to use it I found that the hinges for the rear upper doors that latch together above the rear loading ramp, had worn through the cover completely so we had two fist sized holes on each side. IW hadn’t even reinforced the material, I’m guessing wind blowing on it caused it rub until it just wore it away.
The other thing is that unless you cover/uncover your trailer on spotless concrete you will end up with mud on the inside or outside of the cover, if its on the inside it ends up smeared over the trailer, if its on the outside, it ends up smeared over both you and the trailer.
Ours sits in an untidy bundle inside the trailer….a complete waste of money.

I don’t know about trailer covers, but caravan covers are often reckoned to damage the finish of the van underneath. The caravan next door had one, and in any sort of wind the cover flapped and billowed like crazy, it was very loud as it banged about on the van underneath. Eventuality the cover shredded itself, and part of it took off and was never seen again. Phew, peace was then restored (did I mention that it was VERY LOUD ?).

I have a small tarp that I throw over my ancient 505 as it's parked facing downhill and if I don't tarp it, the water runs inside from top edge of back doors and drips down inside. Tarp is baler-twined to various bars/brackets on the trailer, plenty of air ventilation. I stood on the metal bits of the trailer to throw it over.
