Trailer + Darford Tunnel?

Maybe a stupid question, but has anyone travelled in a trailer through the Darford Tunnel and if so, were the horses bothered by the noise?

I am trying to hire a little box as I hate taking the trailer on the motorway anyway, let alone through a tunnel, but having no luck so far!

Not taken a horse through DT but have through similar tunnels. Horses weren't bothered at all.

Oh thanks I'm sure I am worrying about nothing, but can't help it Maybe I could put some ears or something on him to dull the noise?

Have driven through DT loads of times in a lorry - never in a trailer. They have been fine though - apart from the bit of steepness going in you dont really feel like it is any different. Wouldnt like to be stuck in there though (but I am claustrophobic in there anyway I cant wait to get out again).

Went through on Sun in the lorry, it's fine. Just make sure you go for the left hand tunnel as the traffic in that one is slower. RH tunnel has a 3.5t weight limit.

I go through the Dartford tunnel in a trailer pretty much every time I go out with the horse! It hadn't even occurred to me that it might be any different from driving on an open road - horse doesn't bat an eyelid. If you're worried, shut your back doors on the top of the ramp.

Thanks guys - feel much happier about it now! May even give a friend a lift which will make me feel better - they can huddle together for comfort lol!

Haven't done it yet but it's on the cards for August , like you I've done some asking around and they should be fine id the answer I've got back so far.

Go through almost every weekend with different horses in a trailer, no problems at all have even had to queue through!!! Thistle it is only 3.5t limit on right hand tunnel on outside lane only!

I've been through with a horsebox with no problems.

No problems with the tunnel - the QEII bridge, in the lorry, on a windy day with articulated lorries whizzing past you is another matter entirely.....!
