Any one know the cost of this?
I think you would be better posting this on a comercial vehicle forum!! as it dosent apply to light trailers ie under 3500kg ... look up trailer weights on the dept for transport website for more info... if you are taking about a HGV trailer then I think you can get the forms from a HGV test station......Any one know the cost of this?
I think you will find its bovine manure !!! did you look up the dft web site??? just google trailer weights... what you need to comply with is that your vehicle is not pulling more than its rated towing weight , the trailer isnt loaded over its plated weight, and you dont exceed the train weight (That is the towing vehicle its load and the trailer all together) plating the trailer to match the towing vehicle only applys to HGVs ie over 3500kgs hope this helps...Thanks perfect11s. It's for a trailer - my vehicle can tow 2000kg but trailer plate is 2300kg so have been told I'd get done if stopped by police and to have it down rated to 2000 kg

Yes good it confirms what I said before It is only in europe that the plating rule applys not here Yet!!! so you would be wasting your time derating a small trailer ......http://www.towinghorsetrailers.co.uk/towing_weights_law.htm
This will give you more info, it doesn't only apply to commercial/hgv trailers. Ifor are always happy to give phone advice if you are unsure of anything.
Who has been done?????!!!!!! here is the law www.dft.gov.uk/pgr/roads/vehicles/vssafety/requirementsfortrailerspeople have def been done for pulling a trailer with a potential load of over the weight, even tho their actual weight is under. Which is completely ridiculous and outrageous but lets face it, these days you are guilty unless you prove yourself innocent and in transport and livestock rules terms, its pretty much impossible to comply with all of the laws/rules all of the time. Eventually everyone will be criminalised apart from genuine thieving lowlifes, the govt will be rich from all the fines and everyone will hate the police!

yes under 3500kg no mot or ministry plate , I think they are cracking down on farm trailers and there weight I think the law allows 22 tons gross, tractor trailer and load !! and lots are way over that, and farmers have been taking work off hauliers, by moving building waste, materials and machines undercutting has been easy, not having to pay road tax no opperators licences no 6 weekly maintanace and anual MOT drivers hours regs or training and rebated fuel and favorable business rates .. and we all suffer from the arrogant stards clogging the roads...the ones I heard of are farmers so maybe bigger or agricultural, if thats different.
