Trailer insurance and trailer breakdown???

Without wanting to tempt fate *hopefully* we should be on the road by the end of the month. YAY!!

So that brings me to the horse part of the transport...

Firstly who do you insure your trailer with? From what I can gather there are 3 options: include it on my car insurance; include it on my horse insurance; or take out a separate policy.

If the latter then any recommendations for who to take out the insurance out with and for bonus points, any idea how much this costs?

Secondly I'll be wanting to take out some sort of breakdown/recovery cover. Now I currently have the all singing all dancing RAC car cover so I don't know whether I can add on to this (its a family policy) or whether I need separate car+trailer cover or just trailer cover - I deffo want the option of having the horses retrieved if necessary too.

So again any recommendations and ideas on prices muchly appreciated :)

I have my trailer insured with SEIB, and it has a recovery/breakdown option on it. I have it with my horse, so not sure how much it costs separately. I know the breakdown cover is about £80 a year - not bad I thought! I think the RAC do breakdown cover for horse trailers as well.
 
I have my trailer policy arranged through equestrian world insurance services the policy is with the same company I was with when it was arranged through four counties insurance but they beat my renewal by about £20!! It only cost me about £60 for the year!!

I have breakdown through RAC/PRP rescue. It cost £45 to add the policy to my rac cover I have with my car.

Fingers crossed never had to put either to the test yet, so can't say how good either are, but certainly they are extremely competitive in cost.
 
My trailer insurance is with NFU and is added onto my horse policy. I have the RAC breakdown cover and it is £45 per year, good value for money.
 
Will give RAC a ring then and check what their cover covers but if their car cover is anything to go by that will sort that out.

Will also phone T's insurers and get a quote for adding a trailer onto her policy.

Also with ERS there is insurance that they recommend

Would not use any other breakdown recovery-they are simply the best
