Trailer insurance now I have no horses

Can anyone recommend an insurer for my trailer as I have been told by NFU that they don't insure horse trailers if you don't have a horse insured with them? I can see lots of sites to insure with but I really wanted someone reliable.

Thank you for any advice!
 
I have had my trailer for 18 years and never had it insured, always kept it wheel clamped and hitch locked. I always found it hard to find a company that would insure it with reasonable terms - lots said it had to be locked in a brick building with a 5 lever lock on the door so I gave up.

Im glad I didnt bother insuring it as ive never needed it and the amount of money that I would have spent on trailer insurance in the last 18 years could have bought me a new trailer!!

Just a thought.....
 
unfortunatly mine is parked next to the road on my driveway and two trailers down the road have recently been stolen so I would prefer to insure, although I can see your point!

They have a special deal if you are an AA member of £48 per year which covers everything and you can name 2 towing vehicles.
I have found them very good and reasonable though it covers it when in use as well as when it is parked up.

I too had the same problem with NFU but I have insured my trailer with Stoneways. The only stipulation is that I have to have an approved (by Stoneways) wheel clamp on. I have had to give them the key number for the lock but I'm sure that's pretty standard.

Luckily I have never had to make a claim with the trailer but my past experiences with claiming for numerous vets bills with them, they were brill so I trust them to insure my trailer as well
 
I have my trailer insured with NFU, never had my horse insured with them though. The vechicle that is used to tow the trailer is insured with NFU, and the trailer was added onto the vechicle insurance.
