My friend has a trailer that she is willing to let me borrow. She has it insured for herself, but whoever she has the insurance with, won't let her add another driver (me). Can I get it covered with my horses insurance does anyone know?

Trailers are usually covered for anyone to borrow with the owner's permission- have a look at the terms and conditions, as long as you are not renting it you should be fine.

You can't insure property/goods that you don't own. When I borrowed a caravan, I had to *buy* it, then insure it for a year, then *sell* it back to the owner and cancel the rest of the insurance.

(It was still better than sleeping in a tent! :p)

Is she sure about this, when I lend you mine, it is insured for theft and damage when parked provided all the security devices are applied, and when it is being towed, your car insurance covers it for third party damage. I did double check with my car insurance that I was covered for towing a horse trailer and had them put a note on the records that they confirmed it was.

I can't find anything that states someone can't borrow it with my permission but I can't lend it out for reward. Same applied to my horsebox when I had one, anyone could drive it but I could not hire it out.
