Hey all,

Some of you may remember me posting about my trailer 'jolting' and stalling' on the tow bar at the back of my freelander.

Well, we started with the obvious first and got the farmer who owns our yard to really throughly grease the hitch up. we recently had the trailer serviced by richardson so other than that we really didnt have a clue as to what else we could do.

after speaking to the farmer who has towed all his life he told me to try and keep the revs up slightly more too and see if it made a difference and it certainly has! Took george for a lesson today and the only bumping we had was on our track out the yard which is horrible anyway and the rest of it was lovely and smooth. Not entirely sure how driving round at 3 revs is going to affect my car but t certainly made an improvement on the ride he had!

Was the trailer bumping onto the tow bar.
Mine did that and it was the auto reverse squishy bit in the middle had gone and I needed a nwe hitch.
New hitch is now on and the damping action is back to normal nothing to do with revs.
The hitch may need to be adjusted

Going to waste lots of petrol driving at high revs.

On a separate note (and sorry to bring this up) but can a freelander tow a trailer ok? Weights etc? Thought they were on the limit.

Max tow weight is 1800KG-2000KG depending on which one and they weight just over 1600KG so fine for one Horse but not two. I use mine sometimes and it's fine, plenty power and brakes. I use my big van most of the time. Less power but much heavier.

I only tow with the one horse in and my trailer (wessex) comes in just lighter than an ifor 505 so weight wise is fine - although I wouldnt tow with two in.

Took george to minster vets other day for his jab and the police were by your place (i think your at millfield??) and pulled us over to check for red diesel

they laughed when I had to ask them what it was - felt really dumb haha
