I am buying a trailer this weekend thats quite old and needs a lick of paint..

At the moment it is darkish red.. but i want it grey?

I have been advised to use hammerite paint? but i cannot find it in light or dark grey anywhere only silver? any suggestions?

Ta :D :D

Don't use Hammerite Paint, the trailer will look a real mess if you use that. Prepare the trailer for painting, rubbing it down so the paint will key to it. Buy some car paint, it's easy enough to get hold of, if you have any difficulty it's available on Ebay & then put in on with a gloss roller. You will get a good finish & the trailer will be revitalised. I did this a few years ago with an old trailer. I put on some adhesive coachlines & some horse vinyl transfers & it looked a treat.

I kept the trailer for 3-4 years & eventually sold it for £300 more than I paid for it. ;)

have you tried halfords for it? They had lots of different shades when we done ours a few months ago, with hammerite. we are quite pleased with it.

I've done mine every year with outdoor gloss from b & q!! Just rollered it on! Did do metal work with hammering last year, preped

Sorry, stupid fone!! Did metal work with hammerite. Preped as it said but it just peeled off & looked a mess so wouldnt recommend hammerite!!

Go to your local Tractor Dealership and get some Massey Ferguson Stoneleigh Grey from Vapormatic and red oxide primer rub down the trailer two coats of red oxide two top coats will last for years. as with all these things the detail of the preparation prior to painting is key to good results.:D

I have just ebayed the grey massey paint (sounds perfect and a cracking colour) but how much is needed????

The trailer is a 2 horse old rice i think it holds upto 2 15.2's (i have only seen it from a distance and dad is so non horsey but say's its 'decent')
