I’ve downsized my 7.5 tonne wagon to an equitrek carriage trekka and 2018 ford ranger and I love them both.
However…! The equitrek was on a 7 pin connection for the electrics and the car on a 13 pin, so we used an adaptor. The electrics were iffy to start then we tested the car with a trailer board, and it was ok, then we plugged in the trailer and… all on.
That lasted about 10 miles. Then we had the fault sound from the indicator and no more lights on the trailer.
So the car went to the garage for a checkup, and the trailer gained a 13 pin plug done by a great local company- all soldered in and he also tested the pickup with a trailer board and then the trailer- again, iffy to start then worked fine.
So I went to the local county show on Sunday- electrics fine on the way there, mostly off/intermittent on the way home.
Dad has bought a wiring tester (the relevant one, whatever that is!!) and gone through the trailer- all fine, so the ranger is back in the garage on Friday with a note to say that it works for ten miles then doesn’t…
Has anyone had this? I feel like I’m chasing my tail as one garage blames the other constantly- car garage said it’s the trailer, trailer saying it’s the car. And in the mean time, it’s time for fun and trips out and I’m stuck with no indicators!… or anything else on the back of the trailer
Any help gratefully received.
