I'm looking at buying a trailer - nothing flash, just something to get us to some local events etc.

Narrowed it to two, a Bateson Deaville 55 - new wood floor put in in last 12 months and it looks tidy or an Ifor W, with aluminium floor, again looks tidy. Barely any difference in price. I haven't owned either before but don't know if anyone thinks an aluminium floor is just better?

Have one 16h to travel so size wise both are fine.

The trailer with the ali floor should be lighter to tow, less maintenance and better resale value. I would go for the IW every time. Lots of people really rate the Batesons, I don't have any experience of them personally.

I think it depends. A top quality wood floor is better than a cheap aluminium floor imo.

But the Ifor W ones tend to be done well

I spent a lot of time looking at a lot of different trailers before I made my purchase and I went for aluminium in the end.

Normally I would say an ali floor is always better, however I find it much easier with my mare (15.2hh kpwn x)to unload with a ramp on the offside which the Bateson have. I had the same dilema when trailer hunting, an ifor with ali floor or a Wessex with wood floor but an off side ramp. I went for the Wessex for the ease of unloading & I'm having a chequer plate sheet added to the floor too x

Eta: I mean a left hand sided ramp x

The IF floor has been put in as it's a pre 2000 model but they've told us it's in really good nick. They didn't put it in but had it 5 years so must be decent. Think I'll see this one first. Thank you!
