Sent my trailer for service today and it needs brakes and cable/handbrake replacing .He wants about £400 plus £60 service fee does this seem bit high.

Servicing a trailer normally costs around the £90 mark. As for the issue regarding price for parts, without knowing what parts are needed it's difficult to comment. If ther mechanic itemises what parts he needs you could order ther parts yourself?

Sounds perfectly reasonable to me.While a service might cost 60/90 pounds, this is not a service ,this is a repair.
