Can anyone recommend a good brand of hitch lock?

And decent wheel clamp lock?

I bought a cheapo wheel clamp from Argos but it really isn't up to much and I'm sure it wouldn't be much of a deterrent to a would-be thief. Just thinking I'd better up security before it's too late.

I can't really help except to say when our livery yard was targetted a couple of weeks ago three trailers were taken ALL had a hitch lock and ALL had two wheel clamps which were cut off using an angle grinder! As were the chains at both ends of the gates.
So I'm not sold on either.

The Bulldog ones seem to be OK but they only slow down thieves and deter the chance taking of the trailer.

Sorry can't help but I take the wheels off my trailer when not in use and it stands on bricks - it would take a hi-ab to remove it.

But, downside is that it is a serious pain to have to put everything back on to use the trailer and remove at end of day.....

In our county the police do a trailer marking service, so we all go round with unique codes plastered on our trailers in large bright yellow letters, which the police then keep a record of. They also stamp our postcodes into the metal of the trailer in various places (hitch, ramp, underside) and advise people to write the postcode and security code in lots of places, all over the trailer, in marker pen (some visible, some hidden). The idea is that the would-be thief comes along, sees all the marking and realises that if he nicks it he is unlikely to find all the places where the code is written, and therefore is more likely to get caught. The other thing they suggest is painting the postcode or security code in large letters on the trailer roof - more difficult to remove than stickers, and can be see from motorway bridges etc.

Hitch locks, wheel clamps, chains locked to posts etc are always good ways of making it difficult for a thief, but unfortunately a determined one will always find a way. The visible marking thing though seems to put them off a bit.

Wish the police here would do that Rowreach, what a great idea. We've got our postcode on the roof, our postcode etched into lots of metal work on the trailer and umpteen security devices.
