I am looking for an Ifor Williams trailer, and dont know which one to get. I only tow with one 15 hand horse and would really like a HB403 if I can get hold of one secondhand. My only concern is that as they give the horse more space than a 505/506, would she be able to balance. She dosent seem to lean at all in a double trailer so presume she would be okay, but it is an expensive miustake to make if she dosent travel well in it. Has anyone who has one ever had any problems with the width? Also would I cross tie her or just tie her to one ring? Thanks to anyone who can help

From reading what others have said on this site it seems that second hand 403s are almost as much as new ones

This seems to be because they make great one horse trailers (when downplated) for towing on a B licence (no B+E) with the right vehicle

From experience, they usually travel better with more space, as they can stand at an angle to the direction of travel (if that makes sense) and spread their legs wider.

I'd cross tie her.

Both of my horses travel better in my single trailer (401) than they ever did in a double. My mare especially prefers the extra space.

I cross tie with quick release trailer ties.

Perhaps hire one for the day or borrow one from a friend and see how you get on with it x

shame you not tad closer to west sussex as would have said you could have borrowed mine to check for sizing :)

Could you hire on for the day to try if you are concerned? Would be £40 odd pounds well spent then at least you'll know how she travels.
