found it quite easy really! once you have got the hang of the reversing everything else is ok. as i have only passed my test for 2yearsthe road sense was quite fresh.
robielli, my advice would just be to take the trailer out without anything on board and have a drive round. Obviously drive as if you would have a horse on board but hopefully that might make you worry less to begin with.
RedVendetta, the test really is ok, as long as you make sure you have had the sufficient lessons/ practise before hand then you should breeze through it.
Hiya, yes ditto above- you have passed and you are obviously competent to tow, so go and practice with an empty trailer-lots and lots of practice if you want to. I picked up straw a few times with mine after i passed my test before I dared tow a horse in it!
Hi I did my test last year just before the start of the hunting season, so was thrown in the deep end a bit if I wanted to go hunting. I was really nervous when I first went out. I don't think I went over 25 mph the whole way. But the more you do it the more confident you get. My horse is at livery in the winter and my trailer is at home so I would have to drive it empty every day to get horse which really helped. Just keep going out.
Not a trailer but after i passed my HGV test, I took the lorry out a few times to get feed etc, just to get the feel of driving it. The first time I drove it with horses, my dad came with me, cos i was really nervous about it. I now take the horses out pretty much every weekend and feel very confident. As others have said just take the trailer out empty to practise.
