Hi, Can anyone tell me if its poss to get lessons in towing and particular reversing a trailer. I am pre 97 on my driving licence so know I don't need to but I want to so I can get confident, buy one and just get on with it.

Hi yes it is, ring your local B+E trainer and get yourself booked in.

That's one way but not cheap

another way - find a friend with a trailer and some private land then go backwards - nothing fancy - simply go backwards and get more adventurous as you get used to it

Get friend to yell STOP if it looks like you are getting into difficulty

If you're in the south-west, have a car & rig I'll do it for you. I used to be a driving instructor (still hold my qualification) who also did b&e tuition. Working 1 on 1 with someone you can sort out any issues very quickly & you don't spend half the day watching someone else.

Go back very slowly & see the point your trailer pivots about. This will help you to line thinsg up & take the guessing out of going back. Steer the opposite way for the first 2/3 of the turn, then turn the steering wheel so you steer the same way for the final 1/3. Have a play.

thats just what they call the test for towing a trailer b+e test . it is well worth it one good thing to remember turn the steering wheel towards the mirror you can see most of the trailer in lol a handy tip

Thank you all for your replies. At the risk of being thick what is B and E ? sorry.

B is any Vehicle under 3.5 tonnes
E is a trailer

although B only drivers can tow trailers there are strict and complicated rules to follow so getting a B+E licence greatly opens up those towing options
