Please help. I have bought a quick release trailer tie to attach my horse to the inside of the trailer. I know that you think that I am probably mad but I am unsure which way round the clips attach. I can only persume that the standard clip (like a leadrope) ties to the headcollar and then the quick release clip attachs to the ring on the trailer or the bailer twine. Please dont laugh too loud - I just want to get it the correct way before using it and not cause any problems for my horse whilst being tied up. Thanks

Yeah, thats how I do mine up - my logic being that if the horse was flipping out Id rather just release it from the ring rather than trying to delve about under his chin trying to undo it!

I don't use trailer ties, probably should. However, went as groom with a friend and she used them as you suggest, the quick release attached to the ring on horse box. The manual for my trailer says not to use baler twine when travelling, no way do you want a loose horse whilst moving.

I'd sooner have a loose horse than one that was hanging itself.

But yes - quick release to the ring in the lorry. I like them mostly because I don't have to faff tying up when I put them on.

I may have misunderstood the post but if I haven't then I would attach the quick release tie so that if I had to undo it in an emergency then the tie is left attached to the headcollar giving me a short but necessary 'lead rope' to hold the horse by. Tried it out the other way before I used it on the horse and quickly decided I needed it left on the horse and not on the wall with the horse galloping off!

Ive just brought trailer ties too, i have an Ifor willams trailer and the rings are not wide enough to put on the way you suggest. So i have to clip the quick realease bit to the headcollar.
