I need to take a trailer towing test (yet more expense!) but despite reading as much info as i can find on the interweb i still don't get it.
i took my test in feb 03. some websites seem to say i need to take one test while others suggested i'd need to take two in order to tow a horse trailer?!?!
for those of you who have done it, or are going to, please help - i'm sure i'm just being thick but it has been a long week!
thanks.

Im taking my trailer test on Monday. Basically I dont think you can tow a trailer with a horse in it on your license (mine aswell) due to the weight restriction. Its all to do with the MAM of the vehicle/trailer

I spoke to the DVLA about this earlier this week, as I was also confused!

Basically you are allowed to tow a trailer if you passed after 1997 but the total weight of your towing vehicle, trailer and horse needs to be equal to or less than 3.5 tons.

If it weighs more than this then you will need to take another test.

You are not being thick, the information available from the DVLA is so unclear that even H&H mag published incorrect facts. You will need to take a test, as the weight of your total outfit is based on the potential overall weight, not the actual.
