Hi all,

I'm trying to decide on what vehicle to buy with a view to also purchasing a trailer? I would like it to hold 2 500kgs horses. So towing weight would be c.2000kgs. I have been looking at the Kia Sorento which has a maxiumum towing weight of 2500kg so looks like a good option. However, I have read in places that the maximum gross weight for a trailer must not exceed the maximum towing weight for the vehicle. When I look on the Ifor Williams website for example, the maximum gross weight for their standard 2 horse trailer is 2600kg, thus exceeding the Sorento's maximum towing weight. Now I'm not sure if I need something heftier?

It's such a confusing topic! I want my new vehicle to be an everyday car too, hence why the Sorento was so appealing as it was very economical.

Any suggestions?

TOWING AND ECONOMICAL - they do not go together

Do you really need a 4X4 for 'car unsuitable sufaces' or will a car do?

This will obviously be towing under B+E licence rules
