my horse and I are moving next week and my non horsey husband has a friend of a friend with a horsebox who has said he will move my horse.

I dont know this man, its a 2 hour drive and my horse has not been transported since i bought him 3 yrs ago - hes now 9 and was fine when i bought him but i paid a proffessional to do it and it was only a 20 min journey.

So - this man assures me hes moved lots of horses and knows what hes doing but i want to make sure he does things correctly by knowing how it should be done, any tips etc.

Do you tie up in normal quick release way? Would you buy a calmer for horse??? Anything i havent thought of i need to know, check, ask or tell ie demand????

Ps i shall be tailing the box all the way there very, very closely with mobile to hand top phone the driver in case my boy gets distressed - though if he does - would it be better to carry on and get the journey over with or stop and give him a reassurance (the horse lol not the driver)

As you can tell im worrying myself sick over this - most of journey is on motorways!!!

Tie up with a quick release but to twine or something breakable - not to the metal tie ring. Use a haynet. Whatever time you've allowed, allow more for loading. Use a tailguard/bandage and boots and sheet if necessary; pollguard if you have one. And for your own safety, not too close to the back of the box and without your phone actually in your hand! If the bloke is good enough for you to trust, it will be fine.
