My trailer (Equitrek) has got small specialist trailer tyres and the manual says to inflate them to 96 PSI which is extremely high in my book! My old Bateson only had to be inflated to 36 PSI. I went to the local garage to pump them up and the machine only goes up to 80!!

So what do I do?

So far I've just inflated them up to 80 and asummed that once the horses are loaded and the trailer is driving the PSI will go up. Don't want to overinflate them then load up and have a blow out. I know that lorries can have up to 120 PSI in their tyre but these trailer tyres are a fair bit smaller.

Anyone got any advice?

Mine is 90 too - we use the pump at the local quarry to do them as they have a higher PSI capacity!

Sounds a bit odd to me too for small tyres. Are you sure it's PSI ie lb per square inch and not in a metric version?? (but thinking on it I think it's going to make it worse if it was metric)

I suppose the only other thing is find a commercial garage/bus depot or similar and ask if you can use their gauge. Or get your own compressor and gauge.

Over to someone else with an Equitrek!

My Ivor Williams is 60 psi or so. The equitrek wheels are quite small so I can believe it. Do you know someone with an air compressor? I struggle to do the 60 psi with the foot pump!!

My Equitrek is 90psi - we use an inflator (I think it's Michelin) that runs off a car cigarette lighter. It does take a while and I'm always expecting a burst!
