I'm seeing a lot of trailers with internal height of seven feet, but am thinking that is a tad low

Looking for a trailer that will take the Dizzy one (Dutch Warmblood). She's 16.3hh now, and there's a chance she might squeeze another half inch

Her full sister is 17.1hh, and her half-brother is 17hh.

She's also chunking out now, going from a narrow in saddles to a medium.

This chap is 17hh and as you can see he is no lightweight.

Without checking the dimensions in my handbook I don't know how high my trailer is but he fits in easily & has plenty of headroom.

I have a 2007 IW 510, beware though that the new 511's are very slightly lower in height.

. I'm seeing a numer of trailers advertised (especially on Ebay) that state 7' internal height, but I have the feeling that is a tad low for the Dizz.

So, it sounds like a 510 will do nicely, but to check a 511.

Saw some Ifors today at the local dealers. They were nice, but hubby wants to have a look around (even looked at lorries again!).

Lovely lad by the way

A couple of my friends have the 511 and they both have problems with mould on the roof & the catches on ramps etc are not great. They don't appear to be metal (not sure what they are, looks like plastic but can't be surely??)

Do a search on here for 511 problems, both friends say they wish they'd kept the 510's

my mate has a rather large 17.1 and he fits fine in a 510. two other people at yard have 16.2 and 16.3 and they both go in 510. i have a richardson style trailer and while it is the same length and width as friends 510, her 510 is much higher.

We have a Richardson supreme excel and I think the internal height is 7'8". Sadly it will be for sale but as it is a rear facing one they are more expensive than the standard ones.

If you look at the Bateson site you will see that they advertise their trailer for up to 17h & the internal height of them are 7'03".

The 7'00" internal height trailers are advertised for up to 16h2" horses. For 16h3" horses I would certainly look for taller than 7'00".

My chap is 17.2hh (nearer to 3) and he goes perfectly in our 505. We take the partition out and he wears a poll guard, just in case. But he has plenty of room.

My mare is Dutch Warmblood x and she's 16.1hh, her saddle is xxlarge so she's quite chunky too.

I have a 510 classic ifor williams and she fine in that. I did try her in the 505 but she's too chunky

I had a 17.3HH warmblood and he fit it a 510, but it was a bit small on head room and space at the front. I have a rice (not sure of model) but its massive. Fit him no problems, and I bought it from a friend who had an 18.2HH shire who fit in easily.

A 510 should be plenty big enough... my boy is 16.1 and growing and there is more than enough space for him... I just hope he stops before he hits 17.2hh which is what they're built for!!

My 17hh goes in my 505 without partitions and with a poll guard on, as well. Fits fine. He has enough head room (no less really than I think he'd have in a 510 with partitions) and more room back/front and side to side than in a small lorry. He always travels herringbone, which he does himself once we start moving, so is always wedged in one corner.

I have a feeling that the new 506s are higher than the 505s?

My friend travels her 16.3 in a 505 but personally I would go for the 510. I tried my 16.2 in a 505 and he wouldnt fit length ways, took the partitions out and it was a squeese, needless to say we didnt move off the yard. My wagon is 7'6 high and its fine.
